Mission Statement
The mission of the Washington County Recreation Department is to offer instructional and recreational programming to the citizens of the community with the purpose of education and improving physical and social skills by allowing equal opportunities in participation, friendly competition, and fair play. It is our goal to enrich the lives of our participants through these numerous program offerings, while at the same time providing a safe and well-maintained facility for their enjoyment.
It is my pleasure to invite you to visit the Washington County Recreation Department's, Kaolin Park. Our goal is to offer a diversity of programs and activities for the citizens of Washington County to enjoy by providing parks and facilities that are first-rate and accessible for the entire community to use and enjoy. Facilities
Picnic Shelter
The picnic shelter located at Kaolin Park seats 24 comfortably with ample space surrounding the shelter for additional seating. This area also has an outdoor grill and trash cans for easy clean-up. It may be reserved by anyone 18 years old or older. Reservations should be made by coming by the Recreation Department offices in the Kaolin Park Multi-Purpose Building and signing a Reservation Agreement. Reservations will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis. Use of the picnic shelter without a reservation is allowed provided the shelter is not reserved.
Outdoor Courts
Outdoor Tennis Courts are located at Kaolin Park. Outdoor Basketball Courts are located at Kaolin Park. These facilities are lighted. The tennis courts are reserved at various times throughout the year for programs offered by the Recreation Department. All courts are available on a first-come, first-play basis.
Athletic Fields
Four athletic fields and 5 multi-purpose fields are housed at Kaolin Park. Fields are available for public use when the Recreation Department is not using them or when they are not closed for maintenance. Ball fields are available to rent and may be reserved by contacting the Recreation Department.
Playgrounds
Two playgrounds are located at Kaolin Park for ages 10 and under.
Kaolin Park Multi-Purpose Building
The Multi-Purpose facility houses the Recreation Department offices and is the location where all program registration is accepted. Two multi-purpose gymnasiums are also located within the facility along with a Community Room for meetings and activities. This facility is available for rentals by contacting the Recreation Department.
Programming
The Washington County Recreation Department offers year-round comprehensive recreation programs that allow the residents of Washington County an opportunity to find constructive use of their free time while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Programs change on a quarterly basis for everyone's enjoyment. Programs include youth baseball, softball, soccer, contact and flag football, basketball, cheerleading, and more. Adult leagues are offered in basketball, volleyball, and softball. For those interested in activities other than sports, an array of instructional programs for youth and adults are also offered. The Washington County Recreation Department also staffs the Washington County Senior Center where senior adults come and participate in a variety of activities on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
