Location Information

Take a right onto Highway 15 and then a left at the 1st traffic light onto Highway 24/East McCarty Street. Keep straight for about 2 miles until you see a blue Washington County Recreation Complex sign on the right. Take a right to Franklin Haynes Drive and the park will be on your right.

Kaolin Park Rules

Adopted by the Washington County recreation commission. All groups are welcome to enjoy the use of this park. We ask for your cooperation.

General Park Rules

  • Park or drive in designated areas only.
  • Place trash in designated containers.
  • Caution! Pedestrians have the right-of-way.
  • All pets must be on a leash. Owners must clean up after pets.
  • Plants and property are for everyone to enjoy. Do not deface, destroy or remove.
  • The playground is for children ages 10 and under.
  • Large gatherings of unsupervised minors must contact the Recreation Department at least one week prior to the event.

The Following Are Not Allowed in the Park

  • Smoking beyond the parking lot(s)
  • Alcohol, illegal drugs, and abusive language
  • Firearms or any other weapons
  • Pets beyond the parking lot (Pets must be on a leash.)
  • Golf
  • No fires except in grills
  • Climbing on fences
  • Negative cheering
  • Water-related activities
  • Unruly behavior
  • Bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters beyond the parking area. Please wear safety equipment.
  • No loud music or amplified sound except by permission of Washington County Recreation Department.

Batting Cage Rules

  • A responsible adult must accompany children under 12 years of age.
  • Limit 2 persons per cage.
  • Protective headgear must be worn at all times.
  • Pulling, climbing, or leaning on the nets is prohibited.
  • Cleats must be removed before entering the cages.
  • "L" screens stay in cages at all times.
  • Batting cage Number 2 can be reserved by contacting the Washington County Recreation Department office.

Picnic Shelter Rules

  • Contacting the WCRD and filling out the reserve of the paper at this facility.
  • No bikes, skateboards, scooters, or roller blades are allowed under the shelter.
  • Place trash in designated containers.
  • No alcohol, illegal drugs, or weapons are allowed.
  • Fires in grills only. Remove used charcoal from premises.
  • Parking designated areas only.

Rental Information

Any facility, contact the Recreation Department at 478-552-0013. Rental forms are available on this website. Any individual or group requesting rental of fields or the multi-purpose building must provide a certificate of insurance with liability limits of no less than $100,000. This certificate must be made out to the Washington County Board of Commissioners, P.O. Box 1115, Sandersville, GA 31082. This certificate needs to be returned to the Recreation Department.
